Mission Statement The Library is committed to teaching information skills in individual and group settings to support the college's general education outcomes and competencies. Information skills enable students to independently gather and evaluate information using the Library's resources. These skills are necessary for students to successfully pursue their college studies and later, as graduates, to stay abreast of current developments in their area of specialization. The ability to retrieve and evaluate information also assists individuals in making personal decisions.
Course-related Instruction Reference librarians are available to teach classes to students about how to find and evaluate specific information resources. This instruction will meet the college's general education guidelines and familiarize students with information resources in their field of study. This service is available at the instructor's request. Instructors should notify Rick Bower by e-mail (rbower@pstcc.edu) or telephone him at (865) 539-7106 to schedule instruction sessions. The reference librarians ask that instructors give one week's notice to provide librarians adequate time to prepare for the session.
Consulting Services Other consulting services available to faculty include developing subject-related bibliographies and assisting with research assignments.
